Gillian Fortune – Founder and Trainer
As well as being the founder of the company, I am also the designer and trainer of Stress Express, the Keynote Speaker and the face of the organisation so I thought I would introduce myself and give you a bit of background as to who I am, why I do what I do and why I have a no-nonsense approach to providing support and services.
When I was ten my life was a bit tough and I wanted to make the world a fairer place. So in my naïve ten year old head I decided I would do it by becoming a Police Officer – which was my first job.
As a single parent in my early 30’s I wanted to challenge myself and with a massive interest in social psychology I got myself a Psychology degree, well not myself – Durham University gave it to me! I put food on the table by working nightshifts in a factory and getting up at 4am to write assignments. Character building!
1990’s I became a CEO in the Voluntary Sector – making the world a fairer place. Through some difficult life situations I found myself struggling emotionally and I didn’t trust what was on offer to help! So I came up with my own inventive ways – and they worked and I wanted them to work for other people who were also struggling and didn’t like what was on offer.
Then I was on a mission and I developed relevant skills and qualifications in: Psychology; Leadership; Management; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Neuro-Linguistic-Programming (NLP) and Coaching. All backed up by a great deal of life experience, lots of emotional intelligence and a great sense of humour.
Then it was time to make the world a fairer place by launching my no-nonsense approach to helping people to tackle stress, handle their challenges and be more resilient. And so I set up Feel Good CIC in 2012 and I have now successfully supported thousands of people.
I have been up, down and everything in between. I am funny. I fall over my own feet a lot. I am kind. I am fair. I am empowering and resilient and I take no shit!
I teach people how to get back up when life knocks them flat. I like information to be straightforward, practical and effective and I like to entertain while I educate. What I have discovered is that many other people like this approach too!
